At Western Pathways we operate with a minimum of one staff on duty during the day and one sleeping night staff member. If the young person’s level of need changes or extra supervision is needed then staff will be employed for this purpose. Daytime shift patterns are 7am to 10pm and waking-night shift patterns are 10pm to 8am. Both the Registered Manager and senior staff members of the Western Pathways will share a rota for “Senior on Call” each week. A Responsible Individual from Western Pathways and the Registered Manager will be available if needed to attend the home in the event of an unexpected situation.

Should a member of staff be unable to come into work then another member of the staff team will cover the shift in the first instance. Alternatively, the Responsible Individual or Registered Manager may also cover shift patterns at short notice to ensure consistency of care and support. Agency staff may also be used whenever all other options have been exhausted and there are no other alternatives. In these circumstances, Western Pathways will pro-actively seek to use agency staff who are familiar with our young people, our working practices and complement the ethos of our service.

Employees Experience & Qualifications:

All staff employed by Western Pathways are checked against the Disclosure Barring Service at the enhanced level. All staff are required to provide proof of identity such as a passport, birth certificate and/or driving license, a full employment history, certificates of qualifications and two references, one of which must be from their most recent employer.

The staff we employ are selected on their ability to deal with young people’s concerns and problems in a professional caring manner. We also ensure that they understand our vision, aims and objectives in caring for the young people accommodated with us.
